Reminds me of the whole State of Jefferson thing and good for them I guess!, but this guy's article ignores a whole bunch of negatives about the U.K.

First the gun issue!

Second, he's obsessed with wage gaps and so on. He doesn't want to bring the poor up as much as he feels a need to bring the wealthy down.

Third the Culture! It is dying fast in Europe. The #1 name of baby boys being born in England is Mohammed!
Young white English couples mostly don't stay married and have babies later and later in life. Then only 1 rarely 2.

This Anglophile Professor needs to take off his rose "coloured specs" and quit spreading BS!
Of course what do you expect from CNN!

I spent a year there one weekend couple of years ago while moving my daughter into her dorm....each day it was 90 deg. at 7am and the cars in the parking lots were covered in dew! The locals were wearing jackets!!! Dew at 90 deg?...yikes!!!

So yes, I'd move there...but with 3 conditions:
1- they move Texas to Idaho and well away from the oppressive heat and humidity.
2- they lose their restrictive gun control laws
3- they fence off Austin, Dallas, and Houston and make them State prisons.

Why would I want to move to a 3rd world nation? Without the backing of US Trade agreements Texas becomes more of a wasteland than it is now. The only reason any nation buys their overpriced beef and oil is because of deals with the US. Take away those deals and they all get their oil and beef from South America. Texas would be tits up in 6 months and we would need to put a fence around it to stop them from sneaking back to the US.
