Scope mount removal help.

I'm probably an idiot for asking this but why can I not get this Burris scope mount off this old Mauser? It's like it's welded to the gun. I have removed all the screws. The rear seems free but the forward mound is locked in. Is it like a Weaver where I need to use a dowel to twist the front mount? Will that allow me to remove the base? I'm trying to remove the base.

Does the large cap in front of the front mount unscrew?

It does not. Appears to be part of the front ring?

The receiver has two thread holes in the rear. I'm thinking it has two in the front as is usual but it's underneath the ring mount. Cannot get the front ring off.

Got it. It was like a Weaver front ring. Had to tap turn it out to access the other screw.
