New federal legislation announced yesterday by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Sen. Charles Schumer and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy to “fix the nation’s broken background check system” would mandate that all gun sales – even between family members and friends such as those who regularly gather for the monthly Washington Arms Collectors gun shows in Puyallup and Monroe – “be subject to a background check.”

In order for that to even begin to happen you'll have to turn in your relatives and friends to the gov't. Didn't they do that in Germany before WWII?

I think this is a GREAT idea.....in fact I'm sure it is aimed at fighting terrorism, so to further that goal I propose that any time someone wants to trade a share of stock, buy real estate, opt into a mutual fund for any amount over 1 million dollars that THEY are subject to full financial disclosure and a background check. Since cutting off financing to terrorists should come first, let's see the Obama administration enact the financial security act...THEN I will go for background checks on piddly little gun purchases.....I'm pretty sure THAT won't happen.

Actually German-German citizens were never disarmed, and you could even obtain a concealed carry permit if you were one
