I would think the message you want to send is: don't mess with us, or our school.

My general rule would be if in uniform, always armed. Too much of a target otherwise.

The point of having police at a school is to deal with issues that are beyond the scope of the wrestling coach. Why pay an officer 60 to 70k if you dont want the officer to be able to deal with those issues?

Jordan should try working as an unarmed cop in some of the schools in Chicago, L. A., or New York. Bet he wouldn'd last one shift.

So we have a problem with school shooters ... We send in a school assigned Police Officer to keep our schools and students safe.
But we don't want the officer to have the all tools or means to deal effectively with a school shooter.
Makes perfect sense....If you are a idiot.

I am not happy about needing a armed presence in our schools ... But there is a history of school shootings.
So being safe outweighs my "happy feelings".
Could someone explain to all of those folks who have hurt feelings about "feeling like a suspect" as the article stated , that the armed officer is there to protect you , from harm.
Or if that idea is a little much , how 'bout you just get over it.

A armed officer should be just one of many steps to keep our students safe at school.
The officer might even get special training , to help work with younger folks at a everyday level , not just during a threat period.
Yes it would be expensive and time consuming ... But to steal a phrase from the "other side" ...
It's for the children.
