I think most of us in the area for many years have used Bye Engraving. Pretty cool guy and he won't freak out when you walk in with a firearm.

You can try a trophy shop but they can have problems getting deep enough depending on the hardness of the metal. Another option might be to etch. There are many AK vendors that sell stencils for arsenal marks, numbers, letters, etc.

It's my understanding that you can only etch on unfinished receivers / tubes? Is this correct or can I etch on a prefinished (say hard anodized or Cerakote) object?

Probably just on unfinished metal but I have no idea honestly. Most of the etching I have seen has been on AK receivers and those are unfinished.

My bro and I had our lowers (2 of mine, 1 of his) at Coat of Arms. Their hours worked out better for us, as they were open on Sunday.

All our lowers were Aero with integral trigger guards, so it was suggested to put the engraving on the bottom of the trigger guard. So we did, nice and clean!
