So is there any official confirmation that SB501 is dead or is it just a bunch of bs rumors and heresay?
Sen. Thatcher met with Sen. Prozanski the other day and he said it is dead. He Chairs the committee so that's like getting from the horse's mouth as far as Sen Thatcher was concerned. I believe her that it's dead. I have moved on to try and squash HB 2251.

For every one or two they come up with we will continue to fight. We can't afford not to, as this Socialist Democracy would be the beginning of the end.
There is a pattern among these socialist types. They like to punish the honest gun owners for the acts of criminals, just as they like to punish the achievers for those who have refused to achieve.

Is there anywhere I can find where he said that?

While this is a victory, it is a small one. As was pointed out earlier, Augustana Lutheran "Church" is still targeting "assault" weapons, and the Legislature can still come back with HB501 v2.0 where they "compromise" by allowing 10-round mags and 50 rounds of ammo per month... We're hardly in the clear

All I can give you is the text from the email Sen. Thatcher's Chief of Staff sent me:

Senator Thatcher had a meeting with Senator Prozanski who said the bill is not going anywhere. No hearing or anything. But keep an eye on the other gun bills that could easily go somewhere. If you aren't acquainted with OLIS (Oregon Legislative Information System), it would be helpful to start looking at it. It's key to following bills and keeping track of what is going on. Go to: You CAN Make a Difference… to learn more about getting involved and following bills. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Don't trust anything coming from Prozanski's mouth, he likes midnight hearings and 1:00AM legislation signings with Emergency Clauses...

Prozanski isn't part of the solution, he's a major part of the problem.

One mans view...

YMMV

Finally received a response from my Senator (Democrat) today to an email I sent a few weeks back opposing SB501. Here's the main body of the response:

As a gun owner myself, I value core Second Amendment rights. That being said, I am an advocate of protecting all Oregonians from gun violence. As legislators, we have a duty to support public policy that keeps Oregonians safe from violence. In particular, I am passionate about ensuring our gun laws help keep guns out of the hands of individuals who pose a danger to themselves and others, and that we protect our children.

SB 501 is a complex bill with many facets to consider. As such, I will continue to examine each part of the bill to see how it aligns with my principles. I will tell you that I do have significant concerns about the ammunition purchase restrictions, especially in regards to how it could affect hunters. While I do support reasonable restrictions, I believe we need to reconsider the suggested quantities.

@arakboss, special thanks for your energy and enthusiasm in this fight for our rights. You've inspired me to put in some extra effort tonight to continue writing our legislators.

EDIT #1: also thanks to HuckleberryFun, and anyone else who was involved in the meeting with Sen. Johnson.

EDIT #2: Just to be 100% clear, the text above is the response from the Senator, not my original letter. I don't support any restrictions, especially reasonable, or worse, common-sense ones. ;)

Church folks should care about scripture.
" A blacksmith could not be found in all the land of Israel, for the Philistines had said, This will prevent the Hebrews from making swords and spears."
1 Samuel 13:19
This problem of domination of weapons-less people has been around for a while now.

And "Thou shalt not kill" is a mistranslation. The direct Hebrew to English is "No Murder".

They also need to consider, "Thou shall not lie" Claiming they are banning military style assault weapons when they are actually banning my son's 22 cal target rifle because it has a thumb hole wooden stock. It is as far from being a military style assault rifle as you can get.
But Bloomberg is paying them big bucks to do his bidding. They sold their lying soles to the NY devil.

Perhaps some positive email contacts are in order for Betsy Johnson. Gratitude for listening to pro-Gun folks and for defending the Constitution.

What do y'all say...

Even if it was "low-hanging fruit": just sent off my thank-you note to Sen. Johnson.

Some might be thinking, it's too much if everyone starts posting updates after they've finished writing to, or hearing from their legislators. But I tend to think it will inspire others in their efforts if they see and hear about what everyone else is up to.

The Legislator values core 2A rights? Are there any other rights besides the core 2A rights? You should send another letter to this Legislator and ask him or her if there is some peripheral 2A rights (that we don't know about) that he or she doesn't value.
