Meet the geniuses.

This is what happens when children get indoctrinated instead of educated in our schools. Remember, they have been brainwashed into thinking that even drawing, images, and even PB&J's bitten into the shape of a gun are violent and offensive. Were they taught about our Constitution or the need of any of the BoR or other Amendments?

Now they will be told how "brave" they are for "standing up" when in reality they are nothing more than trained circus seals doing the job they have been prepared for over the last decade in an environment where there will be no repercussions for demanding an end to an inalienable CIVIL RIGHT.

The brave students will be the ones willing to stand up for the 2A and other CIVIL RIGHTS. They will and have been) suspended, ostracized, and punished in every way the system will allow.

Yes, if you are at a gun rally and see younger people supporting it there, go shake their hand. They are indeed much braver for going against the norms of their 'betters' (ie. their '#brave' counterparts, who are useful shills for leftist academia and institutions telling them how to virtue signal).

We were not "chosen" to be carriers. The LGC just happened to be there when it happened and then relayed the information Sen. Johnson told us. The LGC and it's members are strongly pro-2A and there is no daylight between the positions the club takes and what other pro-2A groups advocate for when it comes to our gun rights. You should see the reaction in our discussion forums when someone (rarely...usually a troll) tries to advocate for "reasonable" gun control: the pile-on can be impressive. We may, and do, disagree on many other issues but we are no less pro gun than any other organization. We are doing our thing on our own to fight these bills, as you are no doubt doing yours. That may be as far as our "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" temporary alliance, such as it is (or isn't), ever goes given our mutual distrust.

We can get in doors that you can't. We have identified persuadable Democrats (yes there are some, despite what you think) that are approachable by us but not by you. We will do our thing, you do yours, and let's aim for a victory we can all be satisfied with.
"We can get in doors you can't..." Oh, because you voted them into office?

Bills that die in committee don't state that on their tracking page, at least not always. They simply never progress to the next stage and the only way one could know if the committee killed it or not is it someone in the know told them.
This is exactly right! Here is my correspondence with the Mike Reiley the Sr. Committee Asst of the Senate Judiciary Committee:

Me: "Thanks Mike for the links. My understanding is that discussions or decisions can happen where the Chair may decide not to move a bill forward and the bill might just sit in committee forever. My guess is that won't show up in the overview or email alerts to bill movement. How would the electorate know if that happened in this case? I heard through the grapevine that may be the case with SB501?"

Mike: "That is correct, the bill overview and email alerts would not reflect the discussions or decisions of the committee chair regarding the scheduling of the bill. If you have further questions about the bill and its future, the chair of the committee is Sen. Floyd Prozanski, and his contact information is available here:"

So unless a Committee member ideally Sen. Prozanski breaks the news or the bill is voted on we won't know for sure what's happening with the bill. We don't know where Sen. Johnson got her info but it's possible it came from a Committee member. Wish she would share her source.

I just heard from Sen Linthicum's COS and she said they have heard the same rumors but don't have any other info on SB 501. If a Senator that is in the Senate Judiciary Committee doesn't have any more info then we do that really makes me wonder where Sen. Johnson got her info. I am still hoping her source was accurate but seems almost to good to be true.

Maybe it is too good to be true. "Don't panic - you have nothing to fear - we are on your side... we mean you no harm... we come in peace".

Per OLIS, the bill is still in committee and can still be passed out of committee up until April 9th (if the committee chair will schedule a workgroup prior to that time). It is possible that the chair of the judicial committee (Prozanski) has decided not to let the bill out of committee but you can't count on that.

I have seen bill that were thought to be dead and buried suddenly be resurrected and passed out of committee so be sure to bombard the Senate committee members with your letters and visits.

I believe SB501 is really dead. I just recieved this reply from Sen Thatcher's COS:

Senator Thatcher had a meeting with Senator Prozanski who said the bill is not going anywhere. No hearing or anything. But keep an eye on the other gun bills that could easily go somewhere. If you aren't acquainted with OLIS (Oregon Legislative Information System), it would be helpful to start looking at it. It's key to following bills and keeping track of what is going on. Go to: You CAN Make a Difference… to learn more about getting involved and following bills. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

That doesn't make sense at all. If I were to want to assure people that a suspect wrongful considerations for a bill, it wouldn't be a claimed moderate thinking side of an unpopular bill. Every attempt would be made to the hard core spoken and verbal organizations. Unless of course it is realized like the Obama care it was doomed from the start, but it feels good! However, when it's created by under aged students backed by liberal clergy, and submitted by like thinking Democrats feeling it's a part of their platform, how could it go wrong? Now there is a sensible group that with a bit of stroking could be an ally?

I never thought I would be saying this but we should individually consider sending Sen. Prozanski a thank you note for letting us know instead of leaving us hanging for months.

They need to teach the kiddies math instead of hysteria. eg: The number of registered hunters in the US outnumbers armed law enforcement and military combined somewhere to the tune of 70:1. That's math. I find it hilarious that Salem which is in a Red county for the most part wants to pass laws that will only be observed in Portland and Eugene. 2A Sanctuary Counties are gaining popularity.

I believe this may be the only way to slow down the hammering by the crazed anti gunners who believe in gun control will result in people control. The time and money spent, with more important endeavors just may take some of the appeal out of paying attention to bills that are not going anywhere, until constitutional law changes. A couple more pro gun Supreme Court Judges, and the game for them is pretty well over with. The change in the party platform from working man to Socialist Democratic just may be the beginning of the end if this direction continues

Don't go thanking Sen. Prozanski for anything, ever. You can rest assured he was never thinking, "Hey, if I let Kim Thatcher know that SB 501 ain't gonna see the light of day, gun owners will be relieved sooner than later."

He's a politician, which means deep down he's pragmatic about his career in politics.

He just "survived" a recall effort. Even one that is unsuccessful is a distraction that can easily be avoided by not offending implacable people who will move heaven and earth to recall you and who have demonstrated that such a move is not idle chatter.

Their vaunted Democratic supermajority really only has about 149 days of life in it overall before it becomes a lot harder to use. A special session in the interim year has a topicality requirement to it and then it's election season again. With so many things they want to do, (and good and hard to taxpayers, landlords, businesses, etc.), why would you choose to have your office emailed and telephoned into utter distraction over obviously unconstitutional gun provisions?

If you want to get anything accomplished in the way of your other nefarious liberal goals, or even perform basic constituent service, you don't go about it by tying up your communications all session by championing something as extreme as SB 501.

So, no thanking of him is required. He ain't looking out for anyone else with that move, if it is even the truth.

Maybe you're right. I guess I could send him a note thanking him for nothing and telling him to hurry up and shut down all the other anti-gun bills that move through the judiciary committee and to make sure to let us know right after you kill each bill so we can focus on the next one.

Well thanks to ALL OF YOU for keeping the pressure on the legislators. We must also help the public understand the threat that the "new" IP16 is another assault on their right of self-defense. As is the other list of anti-2A legislation. It may be that the legislators will chicken out on the harsher laws, and quietly press the public to pass IP16. Then they can blame the public. Keep up the letters and reader posts on local and national papers. You can get Yahoo, Times, Oregonian, and Wash Post accounts and post on any story that is interesting. Polite, reasoned and CORRECT facts. People need to be convinced.

For every one of these bills you kill, two more will take it's place. It won't stop until the Democrats have accomplished disarming the population of Oregon. Count on it.
