Oregon SB 979 Another Place Holder Anti-Gun Bill

Monday 4-8-2019 at 8am in Hearing Room C at the Capitol: SB979 Another "Gut and Stuff" Omnibus Bill. Amendments have not yet been posted. They will likely do so late Friday/over the weekend. Who knows what the will be stuffed into this bill, worse than SB978.

978 was not removed prior to the public hearing. SB-979's removal says they feel confident that whatever bills have been passed or are in the works is enough to get through the legislature. Good news is, SB-978 probably won't get worse than it is nor will be a bill with more restrictions be gut and amended. Bad news is we are stuck with the horrible SB-978.

Stuck in the sense that it is not yet dead, yes. Stuck in the sense that it is destined to become law, hopefully no. Let's continue to come up with ideas, look for receptive ears, and do everything we can to make sure that it doesn't become law.

We all know that CHL holders as a whole belong to the group of most law-abiding citizens in the country. Perhaps we can find some people in law enforcement to speak to the stupidity of the "gun free" zone idea in SB978.

Committee vote likely this morning. I will be there to deliver my last ditch letter in person and maybe attend the work session to watch the vote.
