I thought I'd just start a new thread since the bill is a new chapter.

So SB 941 just got assigned to the House Committee on Rules. What a boring committee name, btw.

For what it's worth, there are 5 D's on the committee compared to 4 R's. Here's the committee page:

https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2015R1/Committees/HRULES/Overview

There hasn't been a public hearing scheduled yet, but I'm sure there will be shortly. On that page, you can click on the little expander icons next to each date to see when the bill is scheduled. Maybe this committee will allow more folks to actually testify vs cutting them off.

Or... I guess here's the bill page itself. It'll show when the hearing is scheduled under "Scheduled Events."

So he is one of the good guys? Maybe this thing isn't as hopeless as it seems if we all keep at it!

Welcome to my legislative website!

I'm honored to represent Beaverton and Aloha in our legislature. I'm working hard in Salem to make sure that Oregonians have an effective state government that is responsive to their needs.

On this website, you'll find information about our work here in Salem, as well as useful links to state and local government agencies.

Most importantly, I urge you to share your views by emailing me at [email protected], or calling either my Salem office number at (503) 986-1428, or my home number at (503) 649-1767.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

It should have gone to the House Judiciary Committee, but they sent it to Rules in order to fast track it - thus avoiding the opposition of pro-gun Judiciary Committee Chair Jeff Barker.

That party is just great as the fast track circle jerk. No ethics whatsoever.......................

Anyone know the actual rules behind what committee it gets assigned to? Why would it go to Rules vs Judiciary or vice versa? Is there a lawsuit that can be filed about improper routing or something?

What gets me about all these new laws is they pass then they can get checked on if they are constitutional or not. IS that kinda backasswards? should they not be checked against the constitution BEFORE they become law?

and what ever happened to "voting" by the people? They just sneak it through the senate and ram it down our throats?
So here's whom to call and URGE to vote no on SB941 & SB945
Here is what you can do to help:

Contact the members of the House Rules committee and urge them to vote no on SB-941.

Let them know you don't need yet another feel good law that criminals will ignore and worse could make criminals out of law abiding citizens.

Please call:

Rep. Val Hoyle: 503-986-1414
Rep. Vic Gilliam: 503-986-1418
Rep. Carl Wilson: 503-986-1403

I received my card today.
I called the number and politely expressed myself.
The guy on the other end candidly said "you know, she sponsored SB941"
I said yes I did and am disappointed in her choosing to do so.
Said I thought well of her when her response to the Clackamas Town shooting was to push for a tax credit for anyone buying a gun safe. Said "you know mandatory registration is next" He said that's not so.
I reminded him Prozanski said so in a public speech.
Thanked him for his ear, gave him my name and city.
Will write an email to Fagan along the same lines.

I am an NRA life member, citizen of Oregon. That's what the NRA did, gave me a suggested action.
I am doing whatever I can think to do, including driving to Salem.
That said, This deal was filed as an emergency, no citizen vote allowed, Supermajority of socialists.
My State Senator is against this bill, but in the minority. My State Rep? ....
It's a Tsunami that will test our swimming skills....

The efforts opposing this bill and likely the recall efforts appear to be getting some attention. I saw some of Bloomberg's money being spent last night in the form of and ad pushing SB 941 on KATU. I did my best to keep from puking and think I heard "loophole" and "children" about 85 times. I feel like my TV has been violated and I don't enjoy watching it as much.

They are worried now if they are resorting to commercial ads to get/keep public support. Time to double down on our side - they have DEEP out of state pockets to fund this crap.
