I have a model 12 and I'm having trouble loading shells in the magazine. The shell does not want to stay in. I have check the shell length ect and all are to specs, even tried factory amno a few types. Federal, Hornady. Any ideas? The gun has been fired about 70 times.

Maybe too obvious but, can we assume the caliber of the rifle and the magazine match?
Did the mag work earlier and just recently start popping cases?

Barring that, it kind of sounds like magazine feedlip separation. Are the corners of the mag still in good shape? No cracks or split seams?

OBTW, this is the detachable box mag type right?
