Since it is a rat slaying machine, can you give a guess: about how many 100s of rounds through the gun? Box and paper work? Looks a LOT like what I am interested in.

Probably 2000-2500. I shot it a few trips then picked up the stainless thumb hole version. It's been my backup rifle for several years, but I just bought a Volquartsen. And I dont need 2 backups. My thumbhole savage was purchased used and I've got north 15,000 rounds through. It still stacks them up. Both savages shoot 1/2" or less 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

I'll have to dig through the boxes, and get back to you on box/paperwork.
