Not surprising.

Our gov. allowed fracking to drive down the price of oil and it worked. OPEC responded with increased production to stop the fracking, and the fracking stopped, with some of the fracking companies going bankrupt.

Now oil is so low the OPEC nations are struggling to make a profit from it. This in no small part is one reason why our economy rebounded and commodity prices went down; anything that used petroleum or needed to be transported - which is just about anything - had its prices go down dramatically. Food is back to where it was several years ago. I've seen many items I buy in the grocery store go down 20 to 30% or more.

This won't last. Oil will go back up. OPEC can't keep this up forever.

I don't like fracking, it pollutes the water aquifers and land, it also causes earthquakes, but I will say it is smarter than going to war in the middle east.
