Okay. So. I've been planning to make a chest rig/vest/H belt that can use my surplus LBT H harness pad or Blackhawk H harness suspenders... but... the colors they are in.. doesn't match any of my green Nylon corduras, including the 1000D Olive Green from Ripstop By The Roll:s0054: Oh well. 20201007_205645.jpg
Left to right; 420D Ranger Green, 500D Ranger Green, on 1000D Camo Green 483, then from bottom up, 1000D "Olive Drab", 500D Camo Green, and older 500D Camo Green, with 2 ALICE rucksacks for comparison

All Camo Greens, with OD7 and green Ranger Green webbing on bottom

500D, 1000D, old 500D, and 1000D Camo Greens with base being called 1000D "Olive Drab"

New 1000D Olive Drab from Ripstop By The Roll under gear. Only the Large Utility and the pistol mag pouches comes close to matching. All others have different shades. Also shown are the two H harnesses I want to use.

All my greens on 1000D Olive Drab. Clockwise and top to bottom; 500D Ranger Green, stack of Camo greens, the two 500D, then 1000D "Olive Drab" and then 1000d Camo Green, bottom right, 500D Spruce "BP Green" then finally 420D "Ranger Green".

Comparatively; Coyote Brown is the easiest to match... there's a few shades differences, mostly attributed to dye lots and age and thickess/denier of fabrics.. Woodland... if I stick to US sourced, Cordura, then its simple as there's only a few sources for it in 500 and 1000D. But 420D Para Pack/Nylon Duck/ Packcloth, so far only found a Taiwan sourced woodland that's not the right shading :( And there's imported "Woodland" that looks like it uses the Crayola colors and not USGI colors :s0001: 20200912_173306.jpg

Honest, if ignorant question here-- Wouldn't the different shades be better in that the different colors would help break up your appearance/silhouette?

ps I am also jealous of your skills.:s0155:

In theory, yes.. however different tones might make it easier to pick up the human shaped blob in the woods. Wearing two drastically different camos in thw woods don't always work (for example, Woodland BDU top with DCU bottom) because of the straight lines at the bottom of the shirt and belt lines. Gear has straight lines as well. Unless its all 3d/leafy cut patterned gear, it makes very little real world difference to mix and match colors or camos.

And at first I'm thinking green nylon 66, or a radical Covid mask for a Duck's game:

My wife paints. If you saw her collection of greens.... And still she often mixes her own "green" out of the dozens of gouache tubes she has.
So you doing fabric -- I sense your frustration.

Just got an order in from Rockywoods. Shown here, 500D Olive Drab Cordura with LBT H harness and TT Modular MOLLE Belt. 20210110_093732.jpg

Clockwise from the top left..
500D Eagle Ranger Green, 420D Ebay "Ranger Green", 420D Rockywoods Olive, 200D Rockywoods Olive, 500D Rockywoods Olive, 1000D Ripstop by the Roll Olive, ebay 1000D CG483 Seconds, ebay 500D/1000D Camo Green. The 1000D Ripstop By the Roll Cordura is the outlier and matches the Bianchi holster, the 500D Rockywoods cordura is pretty close to the gear but not the same. The Camo Greens matches the camo green alice pack. The 3 remaining greens other than Eagle Ranger Green looks very similar to each other and looks like one of the older ALICE pack fabrics. 20210110_094541.jpg

During my time in Uncle Sams Army, there were few issued items, OD in color that actually matched.

We were issued OD paint to touch up our helicopters. Each batch was so different in color, our helicopters often looked camo in appearance without that being our intention.
