I'vae got two electronic safes and have had no problems or issues with them for as long as I've used them. I also change the batteries out at the same time that I change the batteries in the smoke alarms throughout the house; that way, I don't have to worry abouot the a battery failing, causing problems with access to the safe.
 
I have a dial safe. I like it fine. However, looking at the electronic safes for sale at Bi-Mart, I was informed that in the event of the electronic lock failing, they come with a key that works just like your front door. SO YOU CAN ALWAYS GET INTO THEM. Ask a clerk to show you.
 
Yeah, the electronic lock safe I was looking at had this system. I was somewhat concerned that this would be a point of weakness.

I dunno. I ended up going with the combination. I really like it.

There is something very satisfying about the tactile feel of a combination lock, especially when the fence drops...
