5 screw k frame 38 special, 6" bbl, wide hammer and trigger. Average condition, nice old revolver. It's an S85xxxx serial number (1945-1948) All serials including under barrel match.
After posting this old revolver, I started researching it. I have always wondered about the wide hammer spur and wide grooved trigger. It seemed like something that would be on some type of target gun. The link below kind of solves the mystery. It looks like this option was available from the factory and makes it a little rare. The other thing that seemed out of place was the ramped front sight that I believe to be part of the factory upgrade. I think I now I might get the $30 history letter from S&W.
