Yes it is C566###. Thanks for catching that. (Fixed)It looks really nice. Could the serial number be C5 and not CS? If so, it was manufactured in 1961-1962.
I'm sorry, but the Model 10 info isn't very extensive. I never had one, mostly K Frames with a few J Frames thrown in.
I'm not sure from the year but if it's a five screw it's worth more than the four and three screw models.
I'll give them a call tomorrow. Unfortunately not box or paperworkYou can call Smith and Wesson Factory at 800-331-0852 and they will provide you with the month and year your gun was shipped. I believe that your gun should be worth $500.-$600. It would be more if you had the original box and Paperwork.

Not sure that I've ever encountered a model 10 Smith must be a very rare model. (tic)
In all honesty however you have a very nice example that would be a nice addition to a collection. One does not see many square butt snubbie model 10's for sale these days in as nice condition as what you have.
The M10's first stamping was 1957, the 10-1 in 1959. You have a nice Smith. Pinned barrel and great diamond grips that should be numbered to the gun. I would suggest going here "very knowledgeable and friendly," and ask your questions.........

It's something of a Collectable but the lack of a box is what reduces its value.I'll give them a call tomorrow. Unfortunately not box or paperwork
When this is for sale, please let me know.
It will match one that my father gave my son about 25 years ago.
