southern ohio gun had a batch of those (681's) not long ago, they get them periodically and sell them for under 400. get your local ffl to check with them or call them yourself.

with those grips it is likely a post recall gun, call S&W and check the serial number

if it is in the serial # range, check it , not all L frames suffer from the problem. pull the trigger (empty gun prefered) holding the trigger back, cock the hammer, if the firing pin binds on the bushing it needs the recall, if not, forget it.
