S&W 1006 / 4506 compatibility question

Does anyone know if the uppers on these can be interchanged?

I have a S&W 1006 and am contemplating a 4506 upper so that way I can shoot both.

Just curious if anyone has done this, and if so, how did you like it?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so. I remember reading in one of the forums where somebody had asked that question. I have a 4556 and wondered the same a while back and came across it. Something about the 10mm was beefed up in a couple areas which made them non-interchangeable.

So far the only differences that I have found is that the feed ramp, and the block under the barrel are marginally wider on the 4506 barrel.

I haven't had the opportunity to look at a 4506 frame yet to compare it with my 1006 frame, but I'd be interested to see the differences.

Anyone else?
