I can't think of a worse scenario.

Russian forces gained considerable experience in flying helicopter gunships during the 1979-89 Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, where they are still remembered with fear and loathing.

These are people with looonng memories. What makes NATO leaders or our illustrious secretary of state think they can make this work?

There are a lot of Russians already in Afghanistan. I was a bit surprised to see Aeroflot cargo planes at the major air bases. Not to mention most of their equipment is ex Soviet...

Hey, after all, we are now training with and sending ships on port calls to Vietnam...
