An NRA spokesperson revealed the spike to Politico as the organization prepared for its meeting with Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday. Biden is heading a task force on gun violence that will develop a broad set of recommendations for President Obama to propose to Congress. The NRA now has 4.2 million members and hopes to reach 5 million before the gun debate concludes, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.
