I have owned a P95 and a P89. Both solid working 9mm pistols. Got both of them used at used prices I couldn't refuse. Got rid of both of them for prices I couldnt refuse... I'm all into Glocks mainly now, sooo.. They served their purpose and did fine, no jams or monkey business at all. Good trunk/truck guns, in a way kinda the "AK" of pistols. Accurate enuff for "government work"... and not so expensive as to cry over if lost or stolen.

I like the Ruger P series pistols! I started shooting them 35 years ago when my oldest brother bought a then new P85. We shot 1000's of rounds through that pistol. I moved into most of the other models over the years and have always had great luck with the design. One complaint I always hear is that the size of the grip is too large. Or they are clunky. I'm not bothered by either issue. They are simple, reliable and accurate enough for pistol ranges.

@arakboss if you decide to try a P shooter I would recommend you try to find a SS decock only model. Good luck!

It's as fugly as it gets. But it is a shooter that never fails. It's not picky with ammo and is an awesome range gun with a very good trigger.

Funny, I think they are good looking guns! They run great and are tough. I've never had so much as a hiccup with any of the models. The P90 45 acp is just as accurate as the Sig 220 based on my testing. Bill Ruger called upon a renowned barrel maker for input on the design of the P90 barrel and lockup. It really shows as the P90's that I have had shoot half sized group when compared to the 9/40 models.

Regardless of the model, each is loose enough to be reliable and still accurate enough for pistol distances. Thankfully, I don't judge the usefulness of guns by the way they look...to a certain point I guess. Here's one of my favorite P shooters, a late production P95DC with the rail, textured frame and slimmed controls:
