For sale is a Ruger M77 Bolt-Action Rifle in .243 WIN. Serial Number is 74-65185. That would place it as being manufactured in 1980-ish, which is consistent with my memory of when I bought it. This is the original Tang Safety Model rifle. It is equipped with a Bushnell Sportview 4X scope (missing one adjustment cap), and a Harris folding bipod.
This is a nice looking rifle (especially the bluing), but there is a little "rack rash" on the stock, and a mark on the barrel near the muzzle. See the photos — I took them just before placing the ad. Functionally though I have to say this thing is excellent. The bolt action is smooth, and the rifle is quite accurate for a standard grade rifle. Everything (other than scope and bipod) is original on this rifle - no modifications or repairs have been made.
