I used it this year with 250gr partitions on my bull.Thats a great rain forest elk rifle right there... Reload some 210 Partitions and let it eat!
Pretty much any weight of partition will work great in the ole 338 on elk... I tend to hunt the brush around here so I always seem to grab my ole 35 Whelen with 225 partitions and it always serves me well...I used it this year with 250gr partitions on my bull.
This year I'll probably be taking my 45-70 or my ruger no1 in 500 nitro. I like big slow bullets, less meat damagePretty much any weight of partition will work great in the ole 338 on elk... I'd even take a 9.3 haha. Considered a 404 JefferiesBeen looking to add a 9.3x62 to the safe myself. Can't beat large and slow in the thick timber. Hell I carried my ole 358 Win a few days this year. Got to love mid to large bores when going after elk. DRT or within 25 yards is where it's at for me...
Cheers!
GLWS by the way..

I also have this Ruger African in 9.3 x 62, you can get a better deal on gun broker, maybe. It might be worth mentioning that it was released as a limited run by Lipsey's of 250.Do you know the price?
This almost makes me question my purchase of my no1 in 500 nitro 2 weeks ago (>.<) depleted my gun fund for awhileI also have this Ruger African in 9.3 x 62, you can get a better deal on gun broker, maybe. It might be worth mentioning that it was released as a limited run by Lipsey's of 250.

Some day hopefully, probably elk and deer rifle this year hahhahaGoing to Africa with that?
Big slow bullets do less meat damage, probably just punch a clean hole in and outI would be curious of the impact on deer!
I had a 416 Rigby from CZ. Quite a gun! But I want to keep my bush meat, since I could not, gun had to go.
