Here's the dimensions of one of mine:

.078" diameter
.749" length

That is the factory pin?

Yep, from one of mine as earlier stated.



As noted in the owner's manual (and suggested in an earlier post), any similar instrument will serve.

The finishing nail stuff seems practical...

I use the short side of an Allen wrench. The long side creates a "handle" of sort that eases lifting out and returning the spring. This is not a big deal since the removal and replacement is very easy anyway, but it helps!
