I have the same in a snub that I sometimes use for a carry. Decent gun, "low" priced compare to most others. With the coming gun laws I think revolvers will be more in demand. Probably make a good truck gun.

Thanks for the response, I'll put a couple rounds through tomorrow...it came with a like new Norinco pump shotty, neat little old style pair.

There was a .44 special version, which I believe was called 721.
A friend had a nickeled Rossi .38 snubbie with Pachmayer Presentation grips.
I never got to shoot it, but it seemed like a well built gun. I've heard they shot well for a snubbie.

As long as all still feels good and tight it should be great. I had a couple of those over the years and never a problem. Last one was a couple decades back when dating the now Wife. She had no gun at home. Took her to get her permit and to a pawn shop and bought her one of those. She had that thing for many years and we sold it for as much as we paid for it.

Throughout the years I managed to acquire three snub nose SS Rossi revolvers . They aren't as refined as my S&W revolvers but they are IMHO a close enough alternative and at a cheaper price.

Say it this way...... I parted ways with my Charter Arms snubby before I would give up on my Rossi.

BTW....... yes , I don't have much experience with the Tarus line of revolvers but I did manage once to see the inner working of one. That experience was enough for me to want to stick with the Rossi/ S&W style of inner workings. Perhaps, that was a big factor in giving up on the Charter Arms revolver?

I have a Rossi 851 4 ". with Taurus on it.
There is not a sharp corner or tool mark on it. Its fit and high polish blued finish are as excellent as my Smiths.
Trigger and cylinder gap as tight. Timing lockup almost as tight.
I can find absolutely nothing to complain about. The adjustable sights are nice feature. So was the price.

I like the Rossi revolvers, i have two 357 magnums model 971 with tbe muzzle compensators and a model 720 in 44spl. Fine shooting revolvers.

Rossi does have a recall on a bunch of the revolvers, you can look it up on the net. I don't know how to copy & paste on my phone.
I'm sure the model 851 is on the list.

Mine is on the list, but it was imported for Interarms so it isn't going to get the transfer bar job done.

Check out the recall.

Have fun with you revolver.

Mark,

What was it about the inner workings of a Taurus revolver that convinced you to not own one?

Ok....I don't exactly know for sure if they are all made with the same design but, look at a YouTube video titled:

Taurus Tracker Revolver Disassembly

Notice that inside......it is not like the S&W/Rossi design. I figure that any gunsmith that can work his magic on a S&W would have an easier time than trying to work on a Taurus. Mind you that I doubt the parts are interchangeable (S&W and Rossi).........though a good gunsmith can/could do his magic with stones (and maybe a touch on a spring or two).

Some Rossi porn for the Rossi fans.

Rossi-38-Sp-M88.jpg
My first Rossi. A .38 Special 5 shot SS 2" bbl. Similar to the S&W M60. Sorry, but I don't exactly know of the model number as they seem to change throughout it's history. Possible Model M88? This one is imported by Interarms.

Rossi-Braz-Tech-R35202-or-M88.jpg
This is my Rossi/Braztech .38 Special 5 shot SS 2"bbl. And, it has an "extra safety" to block the hammer if you choose to activate it. This one is marked Made in Brazil By Taurus. I think the model number is R35202 or M88?

Rossi-357-mag-R46202-or-M877.jpg
This is my .357 Mag 6 shot SS 2" bbl (with original melted grips). Sort of like a S&W M66 or Colt Detective Special sized frame. I think it might be a model number R46202 or Model M877? This does not have the "extra safety" on the hammer. It's also imported by Interarms. The original grips were a mess. They looked as though they had somehow melted. I had to use a razor to cut them along the part line. I then replaced the old grips with grips that I found at a gun show. Believe me....it wasn't easy finding the grips. Most on-line places just say, "Rossi small frame grips".

Note the frame differences. Left to right Rossi M35202 (Mod 88), Rossi 46202 (or Rossi M877) and the S&W M60.
