Back in the day here, when we could ALL own handguns, and the LGS was a great place to go visit with some of them, a would-be thief wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet walked in with a badly sawn-off shotgun, right up to the clerk and shoved the rough-edged barrels up under his chin all the while demanding a choice selection of the stock.

He, wearing a full-face etc, somehow missed the OTHER clerk, who had been cleaning stock, who quietly loaded up a nice little .38 revolver, snuck up behind the baddie and loosed a 158gr FMJ smack through the side of the said helmet.

Needless to say, it was an instant lights-out.

He was, of course, arrested nigh-on instantly for murder, but walked, as the judge quite sensibly took the view than anybody walking into a gun-store to steal guns, using a weapon that was already going to get you ten years simply for possession, was likely more inclined to use it than one who walked in with a spud-gun.

The shooter walked, but with an admonition not to make a habit of it.

The guy who had the barrels up his chin had a deal of plastic surgery to repair the pretty substantial damage to his lower jaw.

I am not gleeful or happy when a criminal gets shot or dies...but ...
The choices one makes in life have consequences ...some are good , some are bad.
A consequence of robing someone is that you may get shot...
One of the best ways to avoid getting shot or shot at , is to not try and rob folks.
