Then call when you wake up!!!
-----------------------------------
From OFF:

02.10.06

Today the House Judiciary Committee took no action on HB 4147, the bill to eliminate any safeguards against faulty background check denials. This bill and HB 4045 were both held over until tomorrow.

This is good news. The anti-gun steamroller has been slowed by your efforts. Thank you for your tireless activism.

But we cannot stop now. Deadlines for moving bills are looming. If we keep up the pressure we can kill both of these terrible bills.

Please contact

Jeff Barker, and urge him to kill HB 4147 and HB 4045. You don't need to create long messages. A simple "NO on HB 4147 and HB 4045" is plenty. If you prefer, you can call and leave that same message at his office at 503-986-1428.

And

please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge a "no" vote on HB 4147 and HB 4045.

These bills are outrageous attacks on our rights and must be defeated.

Damn! Beat me to it. But since I've got it all typed out and has individual committee members emails in addition to your post I'll add this...

Please contact these members of the house judiciary & tell them you oppose HB4147 & HB4045 tonight or tomorrow morning!

You can copy the whole list with commas & send to all members. Might be good to send a separate email and/or call to Jeff Barker as he's the chairman.

For those who would rather call here Jeff Barker's number: 503-986-1428

For those who want to call other members of committee here's the link to the committee with links to each individual contact info page - https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2016R1/Committees/HJUD/Overview

If you've got multiple email accounts send one from each of them. Doesn't need to be long, shorter is better, just say NO!

Here's a short email I sent earlier:

-

Don't let these bills out of committee!

No fake emergencies and stop abusing the short session trying to sneak legislation passed the public!

-

I also told them to do there job and balance the budget, but that's up to you ;) No hi howya doin' or Honorable Sirs & Maddam B.S., they don't deserve it. They don't even bother with the Vaseline when they bend over the public so why should I bother with them. Besides I thought titles of nobility were suppose to die when King George's army returned for merry auld England.

If you want you could also add a P.S. Letting them know voters are watching who votes for these bills & they'll be out of a job next election.

Dear Representatives/House Committee On Judiciary:

Thousands of law abiding Oregonians have wrongfully been affected by denials and delays in the background check system. The background check system needs to be improved. Though it is true it works more often than not, there is still no excuse for thousands of law abiding citizens being denied their Second Amendment right. A three day go ahead for the sale is a bare minimum of protection for these law abiding citizens. The background system is overloaded nationwide. It needs to be improved.

We can not wrongly deny or delay a firearm to someone legally able to possess it. Someone like Carol Bowne, in NJ, who applied for a Concealed Handgun License but the state delayed her so long that her abusive, stalker husband killed her first.

Enough is enough. Stand up for the Second Amendment. Gangbangers in Gresham and outer Portland are not affected by these laws. Criminals are, by definition, criminals because they skirt the law. They won't bother to go to a gun shop and submit themselves to a background check. Three day waits or indefinite waits are meaningless to them because they're events they'll never experience. They'll continue selling guns to each other like they've always done (now illegal in OR, but who cares, right? Only the law abiding will do it).

We strongly urge you to vote NO ob HB4147.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Written Testimony HB 4147

Dear Representatives of Oregon:

We're 100% opposed to HB 4147 and urge you to VOTE NO

The background check system in Oregon is flawed and needs to be fixed. For 8,000 Oregonians last year, they received a delay in purchasing a firearm. 95% of them were false positives. The vast majority of violent criminals do not purchase firearms through legal means . HB 4147 is clearly a solution in search of a problem.

We need forward thinking, compassionate solutions that address the real causes of violent crime and create lasting, positive changes for Oregonians. HB 4147 will not achieve this. Meanwhile, violent criminals will continue to get guns the way they always have: on the black market.

We will be watching how you vote on HB 4147. While our members come from all over the political spectrum, we all believe that it is our leaders' responsibility to protect our rights as Oregon citizens, and believe in using our voting power to hold our leaders accountable for their decisions come November.

Thank you,

Portland State University

Just heard back from Rep. Post,
He states that he also is an OFF member and he will do everything in his power to kill this bill in commity.

A quick line of appreciation sent back in reply for his work was sent bubblegum well.
I actually heard the same back from Rep. Post as well. Sent along a thank you to him as well as others who have responded in a positive manner...

Gramma always said, you get more flys with a little bit o sugar...

Well, the Democratically controlled Oregon Legislature is running roughshod over our collective rights, STILL....

Gotta get involved, against this bill and in the November Election. Time to send 'em all back to real jobs...
