I'm looking at getting a scope to put on my 44 magnum Blackhawk hunter. I'm just wondering what eye relief works for you guys who have one on your pistols. I'm seeing anywhere from 12'' to 18'' mainly. It seems the more expensive ones get a little longer. Does 18 work for you guys? Any suggestions.

I have a older Leupold 2x on my Ruger and love it. I believe it had around 18" eye relief. Really helps with my bifocals changing each year. You can find them used for around $150 before COVID. Anyone over 50 who has handled it loves it. This is for targets only. No issues from anyone looking though it.

I plan putting something on a 22 pistol. Thought about putting one on a S&W 4 screw model 27. The nail polish on the front site isnt working anymore. I love the quick acquisition on that revolver so much I am trying fiber optic front sight and a white outlined rear sight blade to see how that works out before scoping it.

So love the scope, for quick acquisition it leaves some to be desired. I could also just need more practice.

I too have a Leupold 2x on a Ruger. Mines a Redhawk. I'll second everything gtivan said. I've used it for hunting and even bowling pin shoots. I also have scopes on my Thompson Contenders in 221 Fireball and 7-30 Waters. Old eyes you know. I don't think eye relief makes much difference. You'll get used to it.
