I have a 43-48 Winchester 94 lever gun. It needs some serious help. Previous owner didnt take care of it and most of the blueing is gone and covered with a coat of rust. Any recommendations for restoration and reblueing? Portland area.
I'd take it apart...and hit the metal lightly with bronze wool and CLP...to get rid of the rust.
As for re-bluing...I don't have a problem with that...but some folks do...

@Velzey is up in Estacada and he does bluing and restorations. He's done a number of guns for me and others here. His work is top notch and he's well priced.
IF I lived in the PNW and IF I had a gun that needed some thoughtful restoration, and IF I wanted it to be a gun that I could treasure and maybe think about passing on to someone deserving, and IF I had a son that shot, then I'd be sending it to Velzey.
