Even so... okay...

Fast and Furious scandal under Obama and Holder; not big enough of an issue for Reps to put a bill to abolish ATF, even though it was the ATF who let American guns go across the Border and ended in the deaths of American agents...

Vegas event and the whole bumpstock thing under Trump.. still not a big enough of an issue for Reps to propose abolishing the ATF...

And now the whole pistol brace thing, Chipman, his involvement with the Waco thing.. that is apparently a big enough issue to finally propose abolishing the ATF??
Different politician, one with some big brass ones!

It's okay for the government to break laws. The DEA sells huge amounts of drugs every day to stop drugs from getting on the streets. Multi-agency coalitions routinely distribute child pornography in an attempt to lessen the amount of pedophiles running around loose. Standard government protocol. "Go to sleep America, your government has it all under control." As the late, great Bill Hicks would say.

As many of you recall, I faced criticism here when I proposed the bill. H.R.3960 is actually my idea and my own work. I began lobbying heavily for it and asked for help on another board just a few weeks ago:

This is a part of OPERATION RESIST TYRANNY. It is also connected to The Charter and Proclamation of the Rights of Man. Please get involved and help us get this bill before the American people. We need as many co-sponsors as possible. I've worked for several decades pushing this idea. Now, your help is really really really needed.

It would be great if this bill got a thorough hearing and debate, an actual public airing-out of the agency's budget and record of efficacy. As taxpayers we deserve an accounting and, as is my opinion with all government agencies, make them justify their existence.

They won't be defunded or abolished, but they need some humility injected into their fat, bureaucratic azzes and a check put on their arrogance. Democracy dies in darkness, and all that rubbish.

Then, after that... do the IRS, Department of Education, EPA, CDC, FBI, and the rest of them. When you make it through the whole list, start over.

"start over" is not how you spell "then eliminate them" :)

Never going to happen. That Majorie Green is the Republican version of AOC. Just a bunch of hype. Keeps her in the spotlight.
So you would prefer she just does nothing? Most proposed legislation goes nowhere, but even a proposal itself can be a great way of generating awareness and support for a given cause. Even if you just think this is a "stunt," it has clearly already worked! Greene's proposal is on the main feed of mainstream media sites like MSN.

If gun-owners just want to play defense all of the time, then we can look forward to being like the United Kingdom in the next 15-20 years! Of course Greene's attempt to abolish the ATF is not going to be successful right now; however, it is an offensive maneuver that forces the anti-2A crowd to play defense.

I personally welcome any proactive attempts to restore and uphold the 2nd Amendment, regardless of how futile the efforts may be.

Great. I worked on this for years, being told it would never even be considered. Now it has been introduced. I was told it was going nowhere on this very board. Yet, the NRA and GOA (who wouldn't give me the time of day) are now promoting the idea AND using it as a fund raiser. It should dawn on you that I'm the wrong man to tell what can't be done. Now, I can go you one better.

Suppose that the gun owners flip the left on this issue? The right took up the left's proposed solutions for immigration woes, so don't tell me what can't happen. What makes you think that, collectively, we aren't smart enough to pull it off?

BTW all of what you advocated for have been a part of OPERATION RESIST TYRANNY since the day the idea was publicly presented. We do it incrementally, one step at a time. We already had the IRS and the income tax on the ropes. The left flipped the right and erased all of our wins. We just have to get their heads screwed on right in order to get back on track.

Wouldn't life be grand without this politically biased turd of an organization...

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., planned to introduce a bill Thursday morning that would abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Daily Caller reported.

Greene's bill was named after Brian A. Terry, a former Marine and Border Patrol agent killed during a botched operation to track guns smuggled across the southern border.

The congresswoman confirmed the news on Twitter after the Daily Caller broke the story.

"I'm introducing this legislation to #EliminateTheATF to protect ALL gun owners across this country from a tyrannical, power hungry group of bureaucrats who's goal is to destroy our Second Amendment rights," Greene tweeted.
Greene's staff told the Daily Caller the bill would include:

  • Alcohol, Tobacco, and other regulatory functions being transferred back to the FBI.
  • Requires the FBI publish an itemized list on its website of all confiscated firearms and ammunition, which must be sold to Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers via public auction before the Bureau closes.
  • Proceeds from the auction are to be placed into a fund for the families of border patrol officers killed in the line of duty as a result of Operation Fast and Furious, providing grants up to $150,000 per family.
  • Any remaining funds not used by 2032 will be re-directed to a program awarding states grant funds to establish firearm safety programs.

Rep. Taylor Greene Introducing Bill to Abolish ATF
The great thing about getting people who aren't career politicians into politics is that they aren't afraid to make waves and stay in good graces with political schemes. I know this lady has made some whacko statements in the past, but she has been relentless so far in really telling it how she sees it.

Well people like this generally must have marketable job skills outside being a professional politician.

"I was looking for a job when I found this one" sort of attitude.

I hate theATF but if we get rid of them. The FBI who has far more power and resources will take over and it will be far worst
They had power before the atf. It wasn't worse than it is now. Not that it couldn't be. The FBI was actually created to combat the gangsters of the 20's and still lingers on today. Old school infringement.

I say give the Explosives part over to the FBI, and completely dissolve the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms parts, never to be seen again! All they are is another illegal Tax collector who only regulate things to allow for more taxes to be levied, and to control free commerce of lawful products! It's like having the IRS in charge of Water!
