That's a thing here in Massachusetts. Can't remember what they're called, but they exist for towns where the local PD can't store firearms that need to be removed from someone's premises (restraining order, somebody having a meltdown, the licensed gun owner being out of town, etc). It's usually a gun store, and like most things here in MA, is subject to corruption in outrageous storage and transfer fees, or the local cops hauling somebody's guns to their FFL buddy's business (who charges the outrageous fees).
Secure firearm storage isn't easy or cheap if you don't have reliable family to help you out. I can think of other reasons somebody may need temporary storage for their firearms besides dealing with mental health crisis. Taking a job or going to school out of country, deployment, nasty divorces, in between housing, charged with crime but not yet convicted, etc.

Have you ever been to Sunset Firearms in Wilsonville? Their shop is in a office complex where when you enter the building there is a hallway with separate offices on both sides.

Tigard had, or has, a lock and store spaces they turned into small business spaces for cottage industries. Burnham business park i beleive it was called. there were manufacturing, auto repair, wood workers, quilters, all kinds of little business needing just little spaces accessible to the public. some were large closest size to small garage size. We rented one for some overflow manufacturing work till we found a larger building. right in town too.
