Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
The front sight comes off fairly easy. I use a punch with the tip covered with painters tape, to protect the finish and punch the sight from left to right.
Not difficult with the right tools and even a modicum of patience. Sighted in two recently. One the sight damn near flew off the muzzle, had to peen the underside, used a wooden dowel finally on that. The other needed a brass punch to drift.
Note - the front sight base and the band around the barrel are actually part of the barrel. You can drift out the sight its self but if you want a nice smooth contour you will need to pull the barrel and have the sight base removed on a lathe followed by a re-bluing of the exposed steel (blued barrels).
