Ballistol to the inside of them if it really horrible but I honestly prefer to rub just a bit of dry dirt into the exterior grip rubber areas, then leave it on for a few days before you wipe off....no kidding :)
 
Oftentimes a dry element can pull the oil/petroleum based smell off things, like baking soda for example. Rubber airs out best in the sun, too. Thankfully rubber smell will almost always go away with time, unlike artificial fragrances which can linger in polymer or soft plastics/rubber seemingly forever.
