I added more photos showing where the stamping on barrel runs under the factory installed sight. The last legible one is 1911

Do you think its a replacement barrel? 1909 manufacture date with a barrel listing later patent dates...

I agree he dating on the barrel does not lineup. This rifle was always in our family and there is no family history that it was replaced.

I read once that there was an excess of receivers made to barrels due to a contract from a foreign government with Remington. But who knows?
