It was made in march. Due to the fact that when you look up the month, remington goes by "blackpowderx" according to remingtonsociety.com. The gun has an "A" on the left side of the barrel stating it was made in march, but the date is kinda unknown. Right next to the "A" is the letters "61" stamped next to it. I know the 700 models weren't produced until 1962. So as for the year, I am not exactly sure. But the month and year dates of manufacture should be on the left side of the barrel. Its not an aftermarket or any other sort of different barrel.
