Guys,
i'm looking for a Remington 700 short action for a project. looking for a used rifle probably the most cost effective. if you have a shot out 243 or 7mm-08 or 308 that would be what i'm interested. obviously i'd like to get the action inexpensively, so if you have a new pristine rifle to sell, you'll likely get more for it than i can give you, and it doesn't make sense to tear apart a fairly new rifle. someone else could probably use it better. like i said i'm looking for an old one with a worn out barrel since i'm interested in the action and will re-barrel anyway.
thanks,
tdbru

Check out pawn shops and the used gun racks at gun stores also, never know. Took me a few months to find a decent action on the cheap but they do come up.

Sometimes you can buy brand new ones as cheap or cheaper than used.

Also, if you watch the sales at Cabelas they'll have the Rem 700 ADL Varmint models go on sale every so often and many times it'll be at the same time that Remington will have a $100 mail in rebate. I've bought 5 or 6 Rem 700 ADL Varmint 22-250 for $349 after mail in rebate, sold the barrels for 100 bucks each and $249 makes for a pretty cheap donor action to a semi custom build. The stocks are junk so they go in the garbage or given away if you somebody wants them and the trigger they come with is kinda ok but I always sell them and use an aftermarket triggers.
