Looking at a Remington 700. It has a hinged floorplate and wood stock without the ebony forend (it is just plain wood). Older guy says it is 15-20 years old and original stock. Is it bdl or adl?
Swede Cartridge Guy is probably right. The 700 Classic will have a floorplate, but no end caps, and no cheekpiece. Limited production, offered in a different "classic" caliber each year it was produced. Usually, they will have better wood than a garden-variety 700. Most desirable calibers for collectors include the .250 Savage, .350 Remington, .221 Fireball, .220 Swift. New in the box in any caliber, they are one of the few modern production guns that significantly increase in value each year. For the guy who hunts with them, they offer a more conservative stock design and "oil finish" appearance reminiscent of the days prior to the "Weatherby" influence which stuck white lines and caps and high-gloss finish on everything for a while.
