I'd like to put my 11-87P up for trade or sale. I got the shotgun a couple years ago when I was in college, and never really got into shotguns. The wife loves 12 gauges, but would prefer to go back to the traditional 870 express she used to own. I personally have not shot a ton out of the shotgun (~200 shells), but I can't speak for it's past as its a police trade in. From my experience and reading, most law enforcement shotguns don't get shot as much as they get stored in trunks. The shotgun itself is in good condition, with the exception of a few points of wear:
1. The barrel clamp from being taken off and put on for cleaning. Purely cosmetic, and really not bad at all. The magazine tube nut (not sure what it is technically called) has some wear from the use of pliers. I would probably use a bluing pen or something on this and the barrel wear.
2. The recoil pad. It looks like it used to have an additional foam pad glued on. The LEO who owned it previously must have peeled it off.
3. "#5" is carved into the left side of the stock, about 1.5" high.
4. The front sight could use some re painting or something. Sorry for the crappy picture... I tried.
Features: The shotgun is a police model, and can therefore shoot both 2 3/4 and 3" shells. The tube holds six; it also comes with a Tac Star 6 shot side saddle. Sights are remington rifle sights, and are dead on. Shooting steel with slugs at 100 and 150 yards was blast. It also comes with a great three point sling of unknown manufacture. Maybe someone in this thread can ID it for me. While it supports the shotgun well, it can get in the way of the side saddle during reloads. I recently did a bit of a refresh, and added a Vang Comp large dome safety and stainless follower, as well as a high power magazine spring. I also put a fresh set of gas system collars and a ring on it. It will come with 5 or 6 spare rings I purchased as well.
Dislcaimer: I have not shot the gun since installing the new parts. In full disclosure, it did not like shooting anything but high power (buck/slugs/high fps) loads. The ring looked super ragged, and was replaced. I fully intend to function test it with 25 or more rounds of buck and slugs before I sell it. I understand that the police models are not built to shoot low power loads, although I never had a problem with low recoil 00 or #4.
Update: Test fired it and fired all rounds with one failure to feed malfunction. I'm not a gunsmith, and won't be working on it. Price has been lowered to reflect this.
Update #2: Shot a ton through it yesterday, all slugs, all fired without issue. The rifles sights are still dead on and put those on target.
Trades: Looking for an M&P Compact 9mm, Remington 870, and an Eotech RDS. Can trade with cash on either end, combos, etc.
