Greetings All,
The ever elusive Remington #10's are in stock right now at Powder Valley. Today (1/8/25) until 12 they are also waiving Hazmat sitewide if you purchase 99.00 or more. Good luck!

I am fairly new to Black Powder but have purchased quite a few flintlock and black powder firearms. I have yet to only shoot a modern black powder CVA rifle but want to learn more about the safety side of things first. One question I have is what are the differences between the #10 and #11 percussion caps? Is the #10 used mostly for pistols?

Any highly recommended books on the topic?

Oh boy, quite a lengthy topic. But the truncated version is all #10's and #11's are not created equal size-wise speaking. For instance, the CCI #11's are close, but slightly larger than the Rem's #10 and can be prone to slipping off the nipple on Italian reproduction cap and ball revolvers. (Pietta, Uberti, Traditions) I.E. the ones you might purchase from Bass Pro, Cabelas. etc. The Rem's seem to be the "Goldilocks" of caps for these pistols and had been non-existant for quite some time now. That's the reasoning of this post for people in the know. Not neccesarily the greatest "deal" but just the fact that their available makes it worthy of posting.

So far as the other part of the inquiry, muzzleloader forums can be your friend.
