I'm usually against remakes, but this looks pretty good
What happened to original thought and effort in making films? Seems like the interval between remaking films is getting shorter and shorter as of late. Guess Hollyweird can't bother to go beyond films that have already been made and trying to redo it with more effects
Get ready for the re-remake of Spiderman! I use to watch a ton of movies and now I am down to maybe a few a year. I have no hard feelings giving less and less of my money to Hollywood.
Yeah when I was single that's about all I would do. Every pay day I was buying 5 new movies and going to movies a few times a month.
Now I go see one movie a year, and if I buy one it's for the kids.
Okay, I'm an old fart, with opinions, so let's just get that out of the way.
It seems much of the time, to me anyway, that remakes (in cinema and music) usually fail to match the indelible effect of the original. So this year, it's ___'s turn (insert new name on a multi-movie/album contract) to re-do what's been done. And set record first week corporate sales. Personally, I liked the first Point Break a lot, so I'll probably just wait to hear how this new one stacks up before I rent it in 2016.
Hell, this is the off topic section, so here's a tangent...
As a visitor in San Diego (for 25 years) I surfed a number of beaches around there, just the gentle stuff on a 7' 10" single fin "egg." When Point Break came out, a buddy and I went up near Oceanside to ride a long point break at Trestles. You could almost dry off riding that one south. We did not run into Anthony Kiedis or rob any banks.
Hollyweird is out of ideas. Between turning Bewitched into a movie and not making original content, I am pretty well done with them.
This newly warmed over pile of cat dung is much worse than the original. I can already tell from the preview that this is the new take on what Hollyweird thinks people want to see. Chock full of the bank robbers doing it not for the money to afford world wide base jumping trips; but instead lots of showing "the man" how they are the ones who really control the money. Wall to wall BS about climate change, "corporations" and how capitalism is evil would be my bet on the dialog of the "villians."
So Nope, Skipping this POS. Because, perish the thought of us old geezers; I go to movies to be entertained.
I really liked the original too. Didn't bother with the trailer and what Deebow says nails it
I don't care for remakes most the time...."Invasion of the Body Snatchers", YES. Remake of "True Grit", NO, for me, along with most others I never bothered watching much if any of. Having said that, call me silly, I can hardly wait for the new "Family Vacation" to come on Netflix. I don't/won't go to a theater though.
No need to remake a pretty good movie....
And the ending of the original is the best part! Filmed right at Indian Beach down at Cannon Beach!! One of the better surf spots on the Oregon coast!!!
They better have a spot for Gary Busey in this remake.
Btw. Patrick swazes hair in the first film was pretty cool in a way. He played that part well.
We are the Hollywood. We are uninspired. We will reboot whatever we want regardless of interest. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
As a movie whore, yes Ill see it unless one of the actors has came out publicly against firearms. I know many of them are antis, but until I hear it, Ill watch most of them in their little movies. There are some actors that have came out and established themselves as bigots and I will no longer watch their material. Which sucks because I really wanted to see
"Mad Max" and "Kick A$$ 2"
(as dumb as it looked) as well as a few others. Yes, actors are at an intelligence level that rivals a kid who colors outside the lines and perhaps even that have to wear protective gear.. Even when not engaged in physical activity. Know what I mean..
That being said, I agree.. Nearly everything is a take away from something else made early on. Kids now have no idea that half of these movies are remakes or stolen ideas from TV shows from the 60-80's.. But youngins are their target demographic.. I mean, look at the "Fast And Furious" franchise.. God almoghty those are terrible terrible movies.. Yet they make money.
The message in the movie I dislike is, this is another down with the 1% message.. Turning even more kids into little socialists.
. When do you butcher with remake of classic, 'Point Break' . ? .
. When Hollywood thinks a stories Plot containing a FBI Mole, Skydiving, Surfing and Violent repeated Armed Bank Robberies while disguised in US Presidents face-masks and in the process climbing to the Top of FBI most wanted list, All this in the name of total monetary funding your Gangs life's goal of the never-ending ' Endless Summer ' of Surfing the world . A story line that is to 'old School' , NOT fast moving, Violent, seeming almost Plausible over the top story plot and enough entertainment for holding attention span of today's youth minds that live in a fantasy CGI movie land reality . Won't Make Money-$$$,$$$,$$$ .
Think it was the 3rd Lethal Weapon that had the anti gun posters in the police station. Between that and the "cop killer" AP 9mm ammo the director/producers showed their anti gun anti American lack of backbone
As much as that sickens me, Ill have to rewatch that to remember!
I know that Lethal Weapon 4 has anti NRA posters in the police station.
