I see that we have a bill pending that will repeal M114 and replace it. I've read that it will leave us with a mag ban retroactive to 2022. If this is the case, is there any point in saving my receipts for said mags that I've recently purchased (still legal at this time). And is there any disadvantages to keeping the new spare mags in their original packaging?

I don't plan on selling or trading any of them. Would it look better for me if I opened them all up and ditched the packaging and the receipts? I am running out of storage space and they would condense down better without the packages. If the 10 round limit passes, well I won;t use the standard cap mags outside of my home or the range, and will probably carry a 1911 or revolver for EDC.

If the new bill passes, with mags purchased before the law takes effect be "grandfathered"?.

Well, I think I am done buying magazines for awhile. If you google are "high cap magazines legal in Oregon" a bunch of nonsense comes up and it says that Oregon is limited to 10 rounds.

So far The Mag Shack and Gun Mag Wharehouse are still shipping to Oregon, just FYI.

I only have handguns. But if I see a deal on rifle or handgun mags that I don't have, at a crazy low price, then I will probably get some, if it's for a gun I am want in the future.

Can you imagine getting arrested and prosecuted because you couldn't find the receipt for a magazine you purchased in 1997?

I'd wager that we won't get many more than a handful of gun owners that will bother to call or write their legislators saying they are opposed to this,

I wrote my legislators yesterday.

How many of you display your mags in public?
How many of you hand your gun to a police officer?
How many of you flap your jaws when you should remain silent?

Make sure you vote.

Depends on the magazine, if it has a timestamp on it like Magpuls.

mfg April 2021..

If we get restricted to 10rd magazines, the intrusive thoughts will probably win and my new concealed carry will be a S&W 500 Magnum (performance center) with 10.5" compensated barrel...

Where 1shot carries the energy upwards of 10rds of 9mm.

44mag is my current largest wheel cartridge, 10.5" compensated barrel should make 500 S&W mag easier to handle I'm thinking since I've never shot a 500... But I'd learn to love it if the 10rd mags become law...

I thought the law was based on when they came into your possession, not when they were made
If the law is passed this year, and your mag has a mfg timestamp in 2026 its pretty clear one didnt come into possession of it prior to the law.
Also, the OP is concerned the law will be retroactive back to 2022. I dont know if thats possible (legal) but I would not put it past the antis to try...

Yeah, I've got enough mags now. Anything more that I get is just gravy. But if we are limited to 10 rounds, I will carry my Python or 1911 when out and about.

Without the packaging, all my mags fit in one tote. I'm condensing my stuff down so it all fits in my safe. I've got a dozen for my Beretta, a dozen for my Sig, a dozen for my Glock, and ten rounders for the Glock and Beretta. The Sig likely won't be carried. But I've got about 20 mags for my 1911's. I also bought 20 springs for the Beretta 92 mags as I got them on sale for $1.99 each.

I condensed 1000 rounds of 9mm into two ammo cans. 115 gr and 124 grain. I only have about 300 of 45ACP. Luckily my wife supports me getting ammo and mags and guns. My ammo safe is almost full and I have enough handguns. I can relax a little now and spend money on other things.

I didnt get so lucky with the pmags I bought, all my pmags have a time stamp but none of my Glock mags have a timestamp.
I'm gonna order some KCI mags for my Glock 19X as range mags. I've bought KCI before and there is no time stamp, and they are metal lined like the Glock factory mags.
