We had a similar scenario discussed in our concealed weapon class last month. According to our instructor, Oregon CCW allows you to carry firearms inside of private property. Private property rules & policies don’t exceed the State law of CCW. Example he used… Washington Square Mall has “no firearms allowed” sign on their property but you can still legally carry it inside their property. Their security able to escort you out base on other reasons (ex. I don’t like your shirt) but not CCW carry.

But if you are inside of people’s private property, they have the rights to ask you to leave as they felt their life is in danger. But legally you are still okay to carry. It’s a grey area under court of the law. I am no lawyer. Just passing down what I heard in the classroom. Hope I didn’t hear them wrong.

For me it's not the legal ramifications, I know I can legally carry there just as they can legally refuse me service for any reason whatsoever including the fact that I have a gun. My issue is that I don't want to willingly place myself and my loved ones in a Criminal Protection Zone. It's bad enough I have to send my daughter into one 5 days a week for 9 months out of the year. I don't understand why businesses don't get it.

as a private business they have the right to post those signs. We can however decide not to spend money there.

Idiots.. Posting that keeps out the only chance of actually stopping a shooting. If I was carrying and someone opened fire on the crowd I was in! Yes.. I would return fire.. For my life! I guess sheep will be sheep.

I think some of these companies put up those signs in case there is a shooting and one of their patrons shoots back the company can distance themselves from anything negative that comes from it (collateral damage, etc.).

It's still CS, but that is probably what they think.

Personally, I would give a free popcorn to any CCL holder. Advertise that and your business would increase profits and be safer. :s0155:

I can not understand why any ccw holder would patronize one of these places that is disregarding your right to protect yourself, you beach, then support them
sent your business to the places that allow you to defend yourself, use your money to thank them.

I would't even waste the effort looking for a sign.

No need to potentially draw attention. I also wouldn't let a sign keep me from carrying.
