Protest?
Buy some cheap toy guns at the a dollar store, attach a note of explanation. Then you and a few friends bring several of the toys each into Regal and leave the toys behind on the seats for the cleanup crew to find.

My wife and I saw a movie at the Sherwood Regal Cinema earlier tonight. We would have preferred a different theater but it was the only one that showed the movie we wanted to see at a convenient time.

We bought our tickets at the booth, and the 17 yr old girl sitting behind the glass tells my wife that she needs to open her purse. So my wife complied, and the girl (from behind the glass) gave a cursory glance inside, without asking my wife to remove or rearrange anything or open it wide enough to see all the way into the bottom.

My wife spoke up in a firm but polite voice and asked why it was that SHE was being searched but that none of the MEN were being subjected to similar scrutiny. The response? "Well ma'am, if a man brought a purse in we would ask him to open it also." Wow.

Women carry purses. Men don't. Leaving aside the fact that glancing into a purse from inside a ticket booth is a joke that serves no purpose from a safety standpoint ( since I was standing right behind her the entire time carrying a concealed Glock 26) their policy is flat out discriminatory against women.

How can people be so stupid as to think that this will do anything to prevent mass shootings? And how can Regal get away with such blatant sexism?

How can anyone believe that gun control will solve gun violence?
Same chit different day!!!

At Christmas what are they going to do with gift wrapped pkgs? I mean people/my wife, often combines shopping at the Mall with going to the movies. She rarely goes back to the car to put the purchases back in the trunk.
What's to stop someone from wrapping a gun in a jumbo pack of new underwear or some small appliance box like a blender or toaster. Are they going to have you rip it open?
They might as well get it over with and make a policy now. No bags or packages period!

I wont be giving my money to regal anymore.
Torrents anyone?

A few years back, I a worked for a security company in their software Dept dealing with stolen software and DVD's. The reason why people think they can not be caught is because each day millions are pilfered by thieves and only a few are made examples of. They try and press charges on people that will be noticed or pass along they were busted. Running Tors and False rerouted IP's wont save you oh yes there are ways to steal movies and software and just as many ways to be caught. A person can steal movies and software maybe years and get not get caught. Felons sitting in jail for breaking in homes all probably said the same thing.

What disturbs me more is we are talking the right as law abiding people the right to carry in a movie cinema and rightfully so, and then in the same postings saying hey lets torrent movies ?.

no, you said the response from the theater employee/representative was that men with purses would be searched also, so thats not discriminatory. Their actual policy is to search ALL bags and mentions nothing about gender or other types of searches, the fact that most men don't carry handbags or purses has nothing to do with it.

Ok, instead of bags, imagine if Regal posted a sign saying that all bras would be searched (in a private area by a same-gender employee). In theory, your logic would still apply because (a) women are not required to wear bras and (b) any man wearing a bra would be subject to the same search. If their actual policy was to search all bras and if that policy mentioned nothing about gender, would the fact that most men don't wear bras still have "nothing to do with it?" Or would that policy in fact be discriminatory towards women?

thats a strawman argument, Regal doesnt have any such policy. All Im saying is their policy to check all bags at the door is not sexist.

I find it funny that they look in a purse. My wife carries her Ruger LC9s in her purse but its in a conceal carry purse so it doesn't sit in the main opening. It's in a semi concealed side pocket. But I really wonder what they would do when a CHL holder opens their purse and there is a firearm in there. Will they ask you to leave?

I think I will try this out. I want to take my wife to the theater to see if they "search" her purse. Then while I carry my pistol on me watch the movie and on the way out ask to speak with the manager and ask why my wife was searched. And when he says it was to look for firearms Just politely inform him that his search didn't reveal my pistol and leave.

If I carried a backpack, they'd look in that, even though I'm a man. It's not a sexist policy, unless I can walk in without having my bag searched because I'm male. If you want to see some real sexism, go look at the door to the Men's restroom. They don't allow women in there, time for a protest:rolleyes:

Pandering to the sheeple, just like SB 941, won't do a bit of good but make their lib patrons feel safe-n-cozy................o_O

yes, they will ask you to leave. Please dont try that out, it will only give them reasons to increase searches. We dont need to encourage that as responsible gun owners.

Yeah. I don't see the theatres being around anymore within the year or maybe 2. No one is going to want to go through TSA BS to see a movie, nor being forced to be unarmed for those that carry. The only patrons will be leftists/socialists/Marxist/communists. So they will have to depend on the "capitalist" whims of those groups of POS. Now that is actually funny.
One consolation... Hollywood will lose one outlet for their leftist propaganda.

The real reason is they are checking for Goobers, Snickers bars, popcorn, bottles of wine, and any other comestable. Must keep up those profits since they don't make money on the show.

Went to Regal Fox Towers last night, female employee looked inside my lady friend's purse, saw bags of snacks, said it was fine, but please don't leave any garbage. She was polite about it, and we never leave a mess anyway.

Probably generic feel-good corporate response to the anti-gunners demands. What would actually happen if a whacko with a shotgun in a duffel bag was asked to open up? Nothing good.

Im curious why so many are against this policy of checking bags? A person can pack a huge amount of firepower in an average size bag, be it a purse or backpack or whatever. Does anyone here walk around with 'that' much firepower? Then why would you want them to allow that when your going to sit yourself in a soft target zone?

what would happen if a whacko with a shotgun in a duffel bag WASNT asked to open up?

Then that person that didn't ask them to open it most likely woulod not be the first one shot. Get real...
Most of thes guys do not go in with guns in duffels, they go in with guns in hand and shoot anyone in the way while they walk in. More armed people will reduce the number killed befor they bring the "wackos" down.
No compromise of lib-think will do better. It will just get more people killed with no means to defend themselves. Hell they should hand out gun belts on the way in to normal customers. That makes more sense than the BS searches and no weapon rules do! Stop thinking like a leftist. It enables the "wackos"

oh gimme a break, Im not thinking like a leftist think before you speak about my intentions or questions I never said they should have a no weapons rule. I just think of all the anti gun rules we have against us asking to look in a bag at a theater is the least of my concerns. It doesnt affect anyone here because no one here walks around with a bag full of guns and ammo to a movie.

All the theatre shooters walked in with guns out and in hand. They shed any bags before they entered the theatres so the rules and searches do not good and just gets the shooting started sooner and puts new targets in line earlier.

that is all true.

FWIW I think the search policy IS bogus, GFZones are a myth I just tend to not stress about stupid feel good rules that dont affect us, even the lady with the concealed purse slipped by. My point is here we are getting all worked up in this thread over a totally ineffective policy thats been that way for years.

we need to make certain to stay on top of bloomberg and ceasfires etc. campaign they don't attempt to pass legislation that signage carries the weight of the law here in Oregon (like it does say in Texas). And they are working on it when the time is right.

FWIW these policies are getting them killed, even an anti gun person I know even recently told me he doesnt get why companies publish gun free zone signs.
