I just picked up a Marlin 336 but it's missing the recoil pad. Can anyone recommend a prefit pad that will need minimal fitting or should I just buy a standard pad and fit it myself? The factory replacement on Midway has some really bad reviews as far as fitment goes so if I'm going to have some work to do I'd rather upgrade. Oh, and does anyone happen to know if a pad for a 336 will also fit the older model 36 buttstock?

Thanks.

I would get a limbsaver recoil pad. Its the best out there that I have used. For the Marlin you might have to get a grind to fit one. Heres there web site.

I think that bi-mart carries the limbsaver pads. I'm pretty sure I've seen a prefit model for marlin leverguns. I need one to. My plastic plate gets sore after a while.
