Rear sight for a Mini Thirty?

I am looking for a better rear sight for my Mini Thirty. The factory ring-type rear sight is hard for my eyes to focus on, I would rather have a rear notch instead since it is what I am used to. Also...are there any high-rise/see-thru scope mounts for a Mini that will allow the iron sights to still be used?

You don't focus on the rear sight, no matter the type. You should focus on the front sight only.
Maybe the aperture is too small.

The aperture is too small and too low. Looking for a bigger aperture that sits higher

You would almost be better off just adding a scope man. For some reason, its really hard to find non aperture sights for both the 14/30.

You CAN upgrade the aperture sights though, to a larger / higher ring.

Sarge is right, you are probably going to have to put on your gunsmith pants for this one. You could likely find another sight and make it work.

Hey, maybe you could grab a dremel and grind down the rear, turn it into a notch ?

Numrich has some rear sight apertures for only $3.30, plus free shipping.
You could try cutting a notch on one of those and see if it works with your eyes.

Mine is a 189-series with the flip up rear sight.
I really wish someone would come out with a high rise scope mount for the Mini's that would allow you to co-witness the iron sights underneath. I have one on my 10/22, I like having both options.

Ummm. The side plate comes off. Mount an optic there. Sits above your irons.

The old Mini-14 ranch rifle uses the same rear sight as the 10-22 doesn't it?

Just a different aperture piece.
