Chiappa 10 shot 19" barrel. Faux suppressor. $600

Yep...kinda bizarre looking .

Now...a carbine that actually looks like a M1 Carbine...chambered in 9mm or .45ACP...
Or one modeled after the original Ruger tube fed .44 Magnum carbine...again in 9mm or .45ACP....
Would interesting...to me at least.

Looks like they have this one fwiw. I'd never seen any of these until today. Edit: Oh wait I think I do recall the wood ones discussed in the past somewhere. I prob ignored due to Chiappa.

I was blissfully unaware of this particular model (the basic one, without all the childlike fantasy junk on it) and stumbled on a YT review of it a while back and gave it a few minutes and it did not fair well.

Blocky action, rough, didn't function reliably.

This is my favorite part however - 'Faux suppressor' - why pray tell, would anyone WANT anything, faux, fake, whatever on a gun that has no purpose?

I have always had an affinity for the M-1 (so why don't I own one?) but regardless to see one - even a replica - bastardized like this - is a travesty!

The whole faux silencer thing has always been a mystery to me too. They have many of the downsides (e.g., weight, bulk, change in handling characteristics, etc.) of a real can, but none of the benefits (e.g., noise suppression, flash reduction). They don't require a tax stamp and are generally cheaper, but what is the point? Does not compute.

Sadly, everything I've read about them has been negative. A, essentially, M1 Carbine in 9㎜ and running on available magazines would be something wonderful. But if they're junk, meh.
That is a real shame. There are a LOT of 9mm carbines that work great. So its not like its hard to make one that works. That one with the wood stock would really do it for me if the damn things worked and WA had not made them a no go. This monstrosity it beyond strange to me though.

I think it's just looks/marketing. Bought a beretta 22 with fixed threaded barrel and the only way it came was with faux suppressor. Took off immediately and have no idea where I even stored it.

The other one was a hk 416 .22 that came with faux suppressor. Again took off immediately and it's still around somewhere.

The third one I'm familiar with but don't have is the ap5sd. Its value is that you can see what gun looks like with a given dimensions faux suppressor. Fe 1.6" diameter x 7" long or whatever. This gives you an idea of what your existing can woudl look like on that gun or a guide for buying a new can to fit under the handguard. But again one would just take it off immediately and replace with a real one.

Beretta with real suppressor:

I believe the origin intent of a faux suppressor was because the approval times were so long. Gave some folks an opportunity to check out balance and such while waiting & waiting...& waiting.

Oops almost forgot hk mp5 .22 rifle. The gun woudl look ridiculous (imo) with the long pencil .22 barrel. The faux suppressor makes it looks acceptable. Problem with this though is if you remove and put a real one on it will probably look ridiculously ridiculous with a suppressor a mile away on a pencil barrel.

Fortunately they make this same gun as an 8.8" barrelled pistol. Very fun to shoot and same weight and size as 9mm. Great quality mags but crappy trigger (trigger spring kit is avaialable from Hkparts). It's totally reliable and only $349. Hk/walther/umsrex model only. Do not touch GSG made version cuz its dog bubblegum.

SOT licensed guys like Rellim arms shown in this video probably love it. It's raining brass! :s0112:

There were some imported pistols that came with a faux suppressor because it added length which gave them extra points under the stupid sporting use clause of the GCA 68. That's also why there were some smaller pistols in the late 60s early 70s that came with huge oversized target grips and ginormous adjustable sights

Roller delayed 16" 9mm carbine. Didn't realize they had these until today. Msrp is high though. I wouldn't mind having one if they were cheaper. I've always loved their handguards and this stock is ideal for me.

Pencil barrel short handguard version 16" with solid stock is $1275 (email for price), doesn't appear to be threaded though:
