No amount of info I don't care about in an ad bothers me. What bugs me is when there is too little info in the ad for me to know whether I want the gun or not. Especially when OP posts and goes away and doesn't answer questions. If a 629 has a square grip frame the grip options are limited and none fit my hand. All 629 Classics and all 629 Mountain Guns have round grip frames. But standard models may be square or round. If frame back strap is exposed you may be able to tell from photos. But if grip is big and back strap is covered you usually can't tell. And it can be like pulling teeth to get OP to just take the grip off and look.

There are some people responding thoughtfully to the OP's post. Sellers' inability to understand how buyers view an item for sale, or the responses describing the benefits of certain levels of detail in an ad. But the majority of the responses are frat house level garbage. The abrasive name calling and condensing insults. Ignoring what the OP actually wrote to pretend it was something more easily replied to with a canned generic insult. The "you're just not part of the club" boorish crap that made this site's culture decline in 2019-2020.

Maybe it's just me, and everyone else enjoys that type of atmosphere.

My favorite thing about these rants is they so rarely propose an actual solution. What should "the community" do exactly? Does the forum need to police the classifieds for reasonability? Who gets to decide? Suggesting some sort of communist-style price-fixing?

Additionally, if ya don't know how and don't use the feedback system, it's odd to claim concern about "the community" since that's one of the best tools classifieds buyers/sellers/traders have to see if someone is on the level.

Before posting please read/ review the forums rules.

Also please read the rather large red banner at the bottom of every classified ad you view.

I have done multiple deals here. Unsure how the feedback system works, but apparently it's not all encompassing. Firearms, non firearms, reloading. I was merely expressing an opinion of what made this a less desirable place to purchase a firearm. Apparently I'm the only one.
The places where firearm buyer can meet firearm seller without some framework are evaporating. Yet complaints?

He didn't say sellers were not entitled to a profit. But let's spend another eight pages complaining about someone complaining. Let's beat the dead horse some more and get out the "you must not understand economics" line. Rather than acknowledging that there are some people who think that the $3,000 they spent on custom Glock parts means that others will be eager to pay $3500 for it. Or else it goes back in the safe.

And yes, this post of mine is complaining about you complaining about OP complaining.
I, for one, didn't have much else to do this afternoon. Gimme a stick...

I don't think it ruins the community, there is more here than the classifieds, even though that is where I spend most of my time.

I am on another forum that requires 50 "meaningful" posts in order to participate in the classifieds. Longstanding members will pick apart anyone who appears to be trying to gain their 50 posts too fast. Talk about toxic.

I agree some of the ads look like a bad overpriced yard sale, and some of the price gouging hurts my soul. Gotta ignore it and move on. Water off a ducks back.
Ummm HKPro... ahem ahem... cough cough :s0037:

I don't have a problem with overpriced firearms, accessories, etc. I simply won't pay the asking price. I might take the time to make an offer, but that's it. If someone wants to pay over retail or pay for accessories, then that's their choice. I suspect that some folks get a bit upset when they see something for sale, but don't want to pay the asking price. That's their choice. It doesn't endanger or reflect on this firearms community at all. As a boy, I remember barrels of .303 British jungle carbines at the original G.I. Joe's tent that were selling for $10.00 each! It's all very subjective.

I think some people simply don't understand economics/capitalism. The only reason to be mad about over priced items is because you want it and either can't afford it, can't find it cheaper, or simply don't agree with the value. At which point you either watch and wait, move on, offer a lesser amount, or bite the bullet and pay the asking price. Supply and demand. I love capitalism. A simple agreement between two parties to pay a specified amount for a good or service.
