YAKIMA, Wash. A Snohomish County sheriffs deputy has suffered an apparently accidental gunshot wound to the leg from his own rifle during SWAT training in Yakima.
The deputy was not identified; he was flown by helicopter Monday to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital for treatment of the non-critical wound. Snohomish County sheriffs spokeswoman Rebecca Hover says hes in his early 30s and has been with the sheriffs office for about five years and on the sheriffs SWAT team for one year.
About 22 Snohomish County sheriffs deputies are in Yakima through Tuesday for training at the Armys Yakima Training Center.
