I need to send my Gen 3 G21sf back to Glock. When I bought it used, I was not aware of the 'ambi-release' issues, and this model has the ambi-release. I noticed a problem with certain Gen 3 mags not locking into the gun, that's when I learned about the ambi-release. Since the issue pre-dates my first owned Glock, it's just not something I knew about when I bought it. Anyway, I saw that Glock would swap out the frame for a standard release frame, which I would prefer. I contacted them, and even though this issue is something like 8 years old, they are still happy to swap the frame. They actually suggested I send in the whole gun, with the magazines and they said if it looks like it has a high round count, they'll replace everything. Nice. So here is the question. I know I have to ship UPS or FedEx next day/overnight, and I need to go to one of their shipping depots to do it. I know I don't have to involve and FFL on my end since I'm sending direct to the manufacturer. But my one question is this - when they send it back, will they be able to send it directly to me? Or will it have to go through an FFL. I thought I saw something in a thread once that stated if it's sent for service, they could ship it directly back without an FFL. Am I correct about that? Or do I need to be prepared to pay an FFL to transfer it back to me again?
Do you know any Glock Armorers. They should be able to ship it back to Glock for less money and hassle.
for additional details: third paragraph answers your question (again, it's back to you w/signature) so you don't have to only rely upon some interweb post reply http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/09/chris-dumm/tip-of-the-day-ship-carefully/
From what I've read, Glock will pay for shipping and other times not. Try asking them for a pre paid shipping package, you never know if it's your lucky day.
I do not know any, but would appreciate a suggestion if someone does know one in the PDX area that might be open to that. Probably would be a good idea to get to know one anyway.
The return info from Glock specifically stated that shipping to them is my responsibility. They will cover return shipping.
There's a member here that goes by "netcarrier" and he is in the Happy Valley area, so it's not to far from PDX.
Last month or so I sent my TRP to Springfield by Fedx and they sent it right back to me the same way,no FFL required And the great Springfield gun company emailed me a shipping label for fedx.
If you send it to a licensed dealer/Mfg/etc then they will send it back to your door. The hardest pill to swallow is the two day shipping and being home.
