would a numbers matching norinco sks be compliant imported by csi ont ca. thanks
922r is only an issue if you want to put on a new stock or a detachable mag. Then you have to play the 10 or less game.
Unaltered SKSs are fine.
"csi ont ca" who is this importer?
Not sure, buying an SKS, seller says import stamp on gun is CSI Ontario, Calif.
CSI Ontario, Calif. imported many Norinco products before the ban............
So if you bought an sks that was number matching and afterwards purchased a 30 round mag you would have to do even more alterations to get it 'legal'?
Yes. If it is altered - removing the mag and putting on a non-original one - it needs to have 10 or less original parts. There are lists of what counts for what # of parts. A 30rd mag is 2 parts I believe.
wouldn't a mag be three? Body, follower and floor plate? Or am I missing the boat somewhere?
It is 3 parts when it is detachable. It is 2 parts when it is original - the floorplate is part of the body. Either way, there are still more than 10 other imported parts,
here is a list from the ATF on what they consider parts on a Chinese SKS.
4. Bolt carrier
5. Gas piston
6. Trigger housing
10. Disconnector (see below)
13. Magazine body
And here is where I did my SKS research, there is more info on their from the ATF.
922(r) Parts Count Info from ATF - 14 Parts!
